This is longer than my typical blog posts. Over the past half year my business partner, Rick Anderson, and I have been researching and developing a new bully-prevention program. If you’re a teacher, administrator, or parent interested in this subject, reading this entire post could be a turning point for your students. It will be well worth the few minutes it will take to read.
Imagine…
- An assembly program so perfectly structured that your students leave the program energized, motivated, and armed with strategies to ban bullying from your school
- Staff thrilled with how educationally significant the program is
- And everyone thanking YOU for making it all happen!
I’ve taken the best part of my Mission: Possible assembly program (which I’ve been doing since 2002) and added up-to-date strategies for preventing and dealing with bullying. Rick Anderson and I have bought books and studied resources online to help shape our program. School counselors and principals have generously let me borrow their bully-prevention curriculum as well.
But it’s not a dry lecture that will put people to sleep. Far from it! Rick and I know that the best way to The show is also very fun and includes music and magic to capture and hold everyone’s attention.
Our “No Bullies Allowed” school assembly uses the “BAND” Acronym:
B – Be a buddy, not a bully
A – Attitude, Avoid, ask for help
N – Nobody deserves to be bullied
D – Don’t join in, help instead!
Using magic, audience participation, storytelling and comedy, these points are brought to life and taught to students in an unforgettable way.
6 Specific Messages/Strategies Your Students Will Walk
Away With After Experiencing our “No Bullies Allowed” Assembly
- Name-calling, teasing, and excluding others hurts peoples feelings and is actually bullying
- The right attitude helps prevent bullying.
- Avoid places and situations where bullying occurs.
- It’s ok to ask for help. You are not alone, and reporting is not tattling.
- Everyone may look different on the outside. We may sound different and act different. But on the inside, we’re all the same, we’re all special.
- If your friend is getting made fun of, there are things you can do to help out.
By the end of the program, all the students and staff will have had so much fun learning, that they’ll be sad to see it come to an end. Students are involved with role-playing demonstrations so everyone can see how to deal with bullying.
We also know that an assembly wouldn’t be complete without support and enthusiasm from your teachers. With every assembly program, we include our Class Activity Sheets. These support materials and class discussion ideas are ready to use immediately. They reinforce the assembly in the classroom to stimulate more interest and retention.
As with all of our assemblies, our “No Bullies Allowed” program is backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your students aren’t motivated and your staff aren’t thrilled with the content of our program (and how easily we maintained your students’ attention while keeping control), then we’ll tear up your check on the spot. (Don’t worry – no one has ever had to take us up on the offer!)
