The City of Redmond Parks and Recreation department hosted my Science Magic show and workshop Friday evening at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. The event was sold-out, thanks to great publicity by the City of Redmond, ParentMap Magazine, and RedTricycle.com.
- Finding the center of mass of different objects to find the balance point
- Juice from red cabbage becomes a chemical litmus indicator
- Dry ice sublimating into a gas is always a crowd pleaser!
- Liquid density: eggs behave differently in the three different solutions
- Hero’s Fountain is a kinetic display using gravity and air pressure to power a self-contained fountain of water
- Kids explore science principles at workshop stations throughout the Old Redmond Schoolhouse
The evening wouldn’t have been possible without Cindy, Tami, the City of Redmond Parks and Recreation staff, and the fantastic teen helpers who ran the workshop stations. These volunteers earn hours that they redeem at a local equestrian center for time riding horses!
“Jeff Evans does an amazing event! He makes science come alive for children of all ages, and his show is interactive, engaging, and just plain fun. He is professional, dynamic, and we WILL be having him back to Redmond Parks & Recreation events in the future.”
