It’s been a busy week! I accompanied KCLS Youth Services Librarians Anne, Drew, and Bernadette to eight elementary schools this week spreading the word about the Summer Reading Program.
- Lake Youngs Elementary
- Emerald Park Elementary
- Sunrise Elementary
- Renton Park Elementary
- Tiffany Park Elementary
- Glenridge Elementary
- Fairwood Elementary
- Soos Creek Elementary
I’ve been to all of the schools in the past – several just last year – and it’s nice being recognized by students.
- Renton Librarian Bernadette
- Hey, I remember that from when I was in elementary school!
- Me and the bear at Lake Youngs Elementary in Kent
- Jeff Evans at Sunrise Elementary in Kent
- KCLS Summer Reading Kickoffs with Jeff Evans
- Soos Creek Elementary
- Tiffany Park Elementary in Renton
- Tiffany Park Elementary in Renton
These programs were sponsored by the Friends of the Fairwood Library. It’s not only a great way to spread the news about Summer Reading with students and show them the prizes (glow-in-the-dark stars and the finisher’s prize – flashing LED sunglasses!), but also to let kids know about some of the awesome entertainment happening at the various libraries throughout June and July and early August.
I was tickled to hear that students and their families were already coming into the Fairwood Library excited from seeing “Jeff the magician” at their school. On Tuesday, July 3, 2012 I am bringing my all-new Dream It, Read It, Do It! magic show to the Fairwood Library at 11:00 am and the Renton Library at 1:00 pm.
